How to Select a Floor Scale for Pallets and Heavy Loads

Floor scales help warehouses and industrial facilities weigh pallets, bins and heavy assemblies. Selecting the right platform involves more than choosing the largest capacity available.

Start With Pallet Dimensions and Load Range

Measure the largest load footprint and the combined mass of pallet, packaging and goods. Consider how loads enter the platform and whether a forklift, pallet jack or overhead handling system is used. A platform that is too small can encourage unsafe placement or off-center loads.

Choose Installation and Access

Portable low-profile platforms, ramps and pit-mounted installations suit different workflows. Ramps consume floor space but can make wheeled access easier. Pit installations can provide a flush surface, although drainage, cleaning and maintenance access need careful planning.

Capacity, Resolution and Accuracy

Specify a capacity that supports the heaviest expected load and a division size appropriate for the process. Higher capacity does not automatically give useful precision at small loads. Check eccentric-loading performance and the manufacturer’s recommended operating conditions.

Consider Environment and Safety

Dust, water, corrosive cleaning agents and impact from material handling can shorten service life. Review load-cell protection, cable routing, indicator placement and overload protection. Use equipment according to its safety and installation instructions; do not exceed the rated capacity.

Make the Request for Quotation Specific

Provide pallet size, maximum weight, desired division, site conditions, power supply and data integration needs. Explore floor scales and request configuration details before ordering.
